CNIE Invites You to Sign the Joint Declaration of the International Civil Society on Working Together to Implement the Global Development Initiative

Development is an eternal theme of human society and the key to realizing people's happiness.

Our world today is faced with drastic changes and a pandemic both unseen in a century. There are unprecedented challenges in the implementation of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Now more than ever, the international community yearns for development with a higher level of equity, sustainability and security. In September 2021 at the United Nations, Chinese President Xi Jinping put forth the Global Development Initiative (GDI). The Initiative has since been warmly received and strongly supported by the United Nations and other international organisations as well as more than 100 countries. On 24 June this year, President Xi Jinping chaired in Beijing the High-Level Dialogue on Global Development, where participating leaders reached an important consensus on forging a global development partnership for a new era and on working together to implement the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

As a public good shared by the whole world, GDI is committed to accelerating the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and promoting common development of the world. GDI conforms to the historical trend and is highly in line with the urgent development needs of all countries, especially developing countries. It will effectively consolidate the consensus of the international community on solidarity and cooperation to accelerate development. GDI is a must choice for countries to bridge the development gap and revive the cause of global development.

With a view to making civil society contribution towards the implementation of the GDI and towards building on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development for stronger, greener and healthier global development, the China NGO Network for International Exchanges (CNIE), together with its cooperation partners from various countries plans to hold in mid-August 2022 the International Civil Society Solidarity Conference on the Global Development Initiative. Conducted in a hybrid format with both online and offline participants, the event will focus on the theme of “Working Together to Build a Global Development Community and Deliver on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development”. Prospective participants to be invited to the event include cross-sectoral representatives from political, non-governmental, think tanks, media, and business circles, who will be able to offer their ideas and recommendations for sound implementation of the GDI and for the joint building of a community with a shared future for global development.

The Conference will culminate in the launch of the Joint Declaration of the International Civil Society on Working Together to Implement the Global Development Initiative, highlighting the international consensus on the implementation of the GDI as well as the determination and confidence of the civil society worldwide with regard to its role in the important issue of global development.

The outcomes of GDI are shared by the entire humanity.

The implementation of GDI depends on our joint efforts.
