China to help BRI countries fight COVID-19 through Kit of Love Project

Beijing (People's Daily app) - China on Thursday launched Kit of Love Project in Beijing. The project aims to support countries, especially those along the Belt and Road route, to contain the COVID-19 pandemic, prompte cooperation and enhance mutual understanding.

In his keynote speech, Xu Jianguo, Secretary-general of China Foundation for Peace and Development, noted that China calls for cooperation in the fight against the pandemic and seeks common development with the rest of the world. The CFPD would like to play a better role in facilitating mutual understanding through cooperation in areas closely related with people’s livelihood.

Ahmed Farooq, Deputy director of the Pakistan Embassy in China, hailed the enduring friendship between China and Pakistan, adding that this project represents not only assistance to improve people’s well-being, but also friendliness from all walks of life in China to offer support to countries in need.

The Kit of Love Project, jointly sponsored by the China NGO Network for International Exchanges and China Foundation for Peace and Development, is part of China's efforts to build a "Health Silk Road" and a community of shared future for mankind.

The project has received widespread support from social organizations and enterprises across China, and will see the first batch of donations to more than 40 countries.
