The Second Conference of the UN-NGO-Informal Regional Network/Asia-Pacific was held jointly by the China NGO Network for International Exchanges (CNIE) and the NGO Section of UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) in Beijing on June 22nd, 2007 on the theme of ¡°Eliminating Poverty and Hunger ¡ª Responsibility and Role of the Civil Society¡±. Dr. Hanifa Mezoui , Chief of the NGO Section of UN DESA and Mr. Jeffery Huffines, Chair Elect of the UN NGO/DPI Executive Committee attended the conference together with over 60 members of 37 NGOs from Bangladesh, China, Japan, India, Indonesia, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam.
