The first World Peace Forum assembled in Vancouver, Canada June 23-27, 2006 to discuss ¡°Cities and Communities: Working together to end war and build a peaceful, just and sustainable world¡±. Over 4500 representatives from more than 100 countries attended this event, among them were Chinese People¡¯s Association for the Friendship with Foreign Countries, Chinese People¡¯s Association for Peace and Disarmament, etc.. The forum finally adopted a declaration, appealing the countries to create and establish a framework for peace and sustainable development for the region, respect and protect the diversity of local and global cultures, end the war and build a peace, just and sustainable world. The forum decided that the World Peace Forum would be held once every two years in different cities in the world.
