CNIE received a visiting delegation of 20 from Myanmar from 16th to 27th of October. Dr. Phone Win, Chairman of the NGO Mingalar Myanmar, served as head of the delegation. When in Beijing, the delegation met with Mr. Ai Ping, Vice President of the China Association for International Understanding (CAFIU) and Advisor to CNIE; had discussions with CNIE Secretary General You Jianhua and Deputy Secretary General Shi Guohui; had exchanges with representatives from the All China Youth Federation (ACYF), Wanbao Mining Co., Ltd, All China Environment Federation (ACEF); and had interactions with Myanmar language teachers and students of the Peking University. The delegation also visited provinces of Fujian and Yunnan. In Fujian, delegates saw with their own eyes hi-tech companies, development of new socialist countryside, and met with Fujian People¡¯s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries as well as the Haicang District Government of Xiamen. Delegates also interacted with teachers and students from Huaqiao University. In Yunnan, delegates had discussions with Yunnan NGO Network for International Exchanges, visited Yi ethnic villages and interacted with teachers and students of Yunnan Minzu University.
Most of the delegates never came to China before. They were amazed at China¡¯s achievements in economic and social development and deemed Chinese experience to be a great reference to Myanmar. Delegates were also impressed by the hospitality of Chinese people wherever they went. Delegates said they would tell their fellow countrymen what they saw in China after the visit.
