The Third China-Africa People¡¯s Forum, co-organized by China NGO Network for International Exchanges (CNIE) and Sudan NGO Network, was successfully held in Khartoum, the capital city of Sudan, from May 12th to 13th. Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory letter to the opening of the forum. Wang Zhizhen, vice chairperson of the 11th National Committee of the Chinese People¡¯s Political Consultative Conference, Li Jinjun, executive vice president of CNIE, Bakri Hassan Saleh, first vice president of Sudan and vice chairman of the National Congress Party, Makfola Ekar, Mauritanian minister of state for foreign affairs and the representative of the African Union attended relevant activities of the forum. Hassabu Mohamed Abdalrahman, vice president of Sudan, met with forum delegates from China and Africa. UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon addressed the forum in a congratulatory video message.
A total of some 200 delegates from China and 27 African countries attended the forum, representing NGOs, academic and business communities and the media. Under the theme of joining efforts towards poverty reduction, the forum launched in-depth exchange of views and discussion on the following topics: experience-sharing on poverty alleviation, promoting the implementation of China-Africa people-to-people friendship and partnership programme and promoting business cooperation for common prosperity. The forum was concluded with wide consensus and the formulation of the Report on China-Africa People-to-People Friendship and Partnership Programme. The forum received extensive media attention and coverage both in China and abroad.
